  2. Missoula County supports House Bill 6 - renewable resource grants, before the Joint Appropriations Subcommittee on Long Range Planning tomorrow morning. Missoula County is withdrawing its application for a Renewable Resource Grant for the Spring Meadow Project. The financing package didn't come together and the County doesn't feel it can complete the project in the time line required for the grant. We do, however, ask that the Committee consider funding the County's LIDAR project as listed in the bill.
    Respectfully,
Dale Bickell on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners

  6. Sent the following to Missoula Senators (4/7):

Missoula County supports HB 6 - Renewable resource grants, before the Senate on 2nd reading this afternoon. Up until a recent amendment (Senator Buttrey’s Whitmore Ravine motion) passed by Senate Finance and Claims, HB 6 contained funding for an important Missoula County issue that also affects the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. HB 6 contains a LiDAR mapping project that will assist in accurately identifying floodplains – tying into existing projects of Ravalli County. Importantly, the failure to correctly identify floodplains on cabin-lease parcels has already resulted in the removal of four newly-built structures from State land. This mapping grant is necessary from a regional perspective in order to provide accurate floodplain information on the Bitterroot River, the Swan River and the Clearwater River. Please elevate this project above the funding level and support HB 6.
    Respectfully,
Dale Bickell on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners
