Decades ago, the legislature authorized the DNRC to collect a small fee from those requesting floodplain development permits to seed a fund - that could be combined with other funding sources - to remove old floodway obstructions like abandoned bridge piers and abutments. DNRC never collected the fee and this bill is the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation's request to remove this statutory obligation.
