This bill will eliminate the possibility of a jail sentence on some significant misdemeanor offenses. This is a bad idea because the possibility of a jail sentence is still the primary reason people don't steal, write bad checks, drive without a valid license or when their driver's license has been suspended. The reason this bill is being proposed is to simply avoid paying for the cost of public defender attorneys to represent these people. That's not a good reason to give these lawbreakers a free pass
