Representative Barrett, Missoula County supports House Bill 130 - expand types of elections to be conducted by mail ballot elections, before the House on 2nd reading today. Mail ballot elections save the state and local governments money and enhance election security by requiring stronger voter verification practices. HB 130 has gained bi-partisan support indicating the real work elections administrators and groups of all political persuasions have done to make sure the bill is balanced and meets the needs of the diverse citizens of the State of Montana. Please support HB 130. Respectfully, Dale Bickell on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners
MT SECRETARY OF STATE LINDA McCULLOCH PUBLIC ADVISORY
Statement from Secretary of State Linda McCulloch regarding the future of Vote-By-Mail, following Friday's vote in the House of Representatives:
"Today's vote proves that fiction too easily trumps fact in the Montana Legislature.† It's a sad day when elected legislators let politics and scare tactics stand in the way of doing what's right. Politics overpowered the greater good, and Montanans lost. I commend Representative Pat Ingraham for her hard work in moving our bill forward. It's time to put Vote-By-Mail on the ballot, and let Montana voters decide."
HB 130 failed its third reading in the House of Representatives on Friday, January 28, 2011.
This is the mail ballot bill we want to be passed. This is a high priority for Missoula County
