Revise interim zoning laws

  1. Pat O'Herren Writes:
Restricts County Commissioners from using interim zoning on unzoned land if the use is subject to regulation/approval by state or federal agencies with some conditions. Likely intended to prevent Counties from responding to citizen requests to interim zone lands facing considerable change in land use that is inconsistent with adjacent property owner land uses (such as gravel pits in residential areas).

Oppose, or amend to eliminate reference to "property for which zoning regulations have not been adopted."

  2. Sent the following to Reps Barrett, Bennett, Malek, and Reinhart on House Local Government:

Missoula County opposes Senate Bill 183 as amended - revise interim zoning laws, before House Local Government tomorrow afternoon. SB 183 seriously diminishes the power of counties to control land uses of the most intense and impactful types such as mining and heavy industry. The amended version also appears to restrict counties ability to implement land-use control in residential subdivisions. Please oppose SB 183.
    Respectfully,
Dale Bickell on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners
