This bill eliminates two economic development tools that Missoula County has used or plans to use:
Pg 30, lines 21-29: Eliminates the "Big Sky on the Big Screen Act", which provided a tax credit for for certain film industry activities. Missoula County has entered into an option on a buy/sell agreement for a several lots in the technology increment district of the Missoula Development Park with a company that intends to build a "soundstage" as a service to the film industry. This tax credit is a large part of the reason that this project may be feasible in Missoula.
Pg 31, line 29 - Eliminates the tax credit for lease or loan payments made under the MT Board of Invesments Infrastructure Loan Program. This was an important tool that Missoula County used on the DIRECTV project in the Missoula County Development Park. We have also considered for other potential economic development projects and we strongly encourage the state to retain this program.
Missoula County opposes SB 253 - eliminate certain individual and corporation tax credits, before the House on 2nd reading this afternoon. SB 253 eliminates two economic development tools that Missoula County has used or plans to use including the "Big Sky on the Big Screen Act", which provided a tax credit for certain film industry activities.
